This week we are taking a look at one of our favorite downtown places. Off the Beaten Path Bookstore first opened it’s doors in 1990 on 7th Street in the heart of downtown Steamboat Springs. The store was purchased from its original owners, Dick and Leslie Ryan, in 2008 by Sue and Ron Krall. That purchase necessitated a move from the 7th Street location, currently Ghost Ranch Saloon, to the current location at 68 9th Street. Off the Beaten Path is Steamboat’s largest full-service bookstore and the local’s favorite meeting place for Good Books, Good Coffee, and Good Friends.
Off the Beaten Path run by real people who read books and admire good writing. The booksellers are always ready to help customers find their next great read and all of them make frequent recommendations on their website and in reviews in the local paper, the Steamboat Today. Staff picks are featured prominently in the store as well.
As a full service, independent bookstore, Off the Beaten Path has extensive collections of current literature, fiction, history and memoirs, and young adult selections. The also feature a large children’s collection, and a famous kids’ Book Nook for the youngest readers! They carry the Indie Bound selections, NY Times best sellers, and are a sponsor of the Literary Sojourn (www.literarysojourn.com), a full selection of the Literary Sojourn authors.
Along with carefully, hand selected inventory of books, they stock wonderful greeting cards, games, puzzles, candles, journals, toys, chocolates and a varied assortment of unique gifts. Once you have selected the perfect gift for your friends back home, have the friendly staff gift wrap it and even ship it directly from the store back home.
Don’t forget about their wonderful coffeehouse. The coffeehouse serves the best coffee drinks in town, pastries, smoothies, plus wine, adult coffee drinks, and locally handcrafted beers.
Make sure to make to Off the Beaten Path on your next adventure in downtown Steamboat springs at 68 9th Street, between Lincoln Ave and Yampa Street on 9th.
